I'grand moving to AZ in a couple of months and will want to buy some guns when I move at that place. I called upwardly some gun stores and they said I demand an AZ driver's license and that goose egg can be substituted for it (like a lease agreement). Is this true? I don't want to immediately transfer my driver's license to AZ just in instance I don't end up liking it and want to move back, but if it'southward necessary to purchase firearms I guess I volition simply have to practice it and become through the hassle of transferring nonetheless again if AZ doesn't work out for me. Please allow me know; I though AZ gun purchasing laws were far less strict. Thanks! Mod note: This thread is not for debating the pros/cons/politics of gun ownership. This is about ID requirements to purchase guns in Arizona. The cease. Last edited past yellowbelle; 12-14-2015 at 06:40 PM.. Reason: added modern note to curb all the off topic posts |

Yous may legally purchase a firearm in any country in which y'all are a resident. If you are a resident of AZ (simply not domiciled in that location for taxation purposes -- you have seven months for that) y'all can get to your local RMV and go an AZ ID menu. Same size as a DL, and will serve as identification for purchasing a firearm. I urge y'all to secure an AZ carry permit likewise. This will enable you to purchase firearms in AZ without the hassle of a groundwork bank check. I reside in MA and in AZ and purchase firearms in both states. It'due south perfectly lawful. |

Your information isn't correct. You can simply purchase a handgun in your state of legal residence. Purchasing a handgun in another state would require you to ship it to an FFL in your state of residence to exist transferred to you in that state. You can't purchase handguns as a resident in 2 states at the aforementioned fourth dimension. If you're in Arizona equally a snow bird and none of the below brand you a resident you can't legally purchase a handgun and take possession of it without going through an FFL in your state of residence. If you are considered a resident of AZ then you tin can't legally purchase a handgun in MA. Country constabulary (or state taxes) have nothing to do with this (other than establishing residency) every bit this is covered by federal law. Also, i becomes a resident of Arizona when ANY of the following happens and require yous to go a drivers license immediately. "One time you move to Arizona, you'll demand to get an AZ commuter's license and register your vehicle(s) immediately upon establishing residency. Arizona considers you a resident when any of the following situations utilize: You lot work in Arizona. The info for ownership from FFL dealers is correct. What distinguishes AZ police force from some other more restrictive states is the fact that we don't accept whatsoever restrictions on gun models ala CA and other states, and face to face up private purchases are unregulated. Having said that, if you look at private for sale ads on dorsum page and other sites, virtually all individual sellers want in land ID and many will not sell to someone who is not a CCW holder. I won't sell to someone who can't provide a driver's license and sign a beak of auction. It'southward not required, just keeps the lowballers and riffraff types away. ETA: Yous'll be in violation of AZ law if yous don't alter your driver'southward license. The fine is pretty stiff I hear. Pay the dues if y'all want to move here delight, or don't move hither. We take enough automotive freeloaders already. |
